Switching guide

Switch from Google Analytics to Savri

Start measuring with Savri, check that everything works and switch at your own pace. This guide covers installation, your most important goals and what happens to your old statistics.

New data from day one

Statistics in Savri begin when tracking is installed and receiving visits.

No GA4 data import

Your old GA4 statistics are not transferred. Save important reports separately.

Try both side by side

Keep GA4 while you get to know Savri and check your tracking.

Step 1

Keep the reports you need

Savri does not currently import historical GA4 statistics. The Search Console connection retrieves search data, not your old visitor statistics.

  • Choose the periods and reports you want to keep, such as monthly traffic, traffic sources and important pages.
  • Export your GA4 reports as CSV, PDF or to Google Sheets. A report export is not a complete backup of your Analytics account.
  • Keep access to your GA4 property. You do not need to delete the account or property to stop collecting new visits.

Step 2

Add your website to Savri

Create an account, verify your email address and add the website you want to measure. Use the installation code for that specific site.

  • Choose an installation method for your website, such as our WordPress plugin or the script in the page head.
  • Install tracking once. Avoid using both the plugin and an additional manual script installation for the same site.
  • Keep GA4 during your evaluation. Leave your existing consent settings in place while it is running.

Step 3

Make sure the first data comes through

Open your published website and visit a couple of pages. Then open the site’s statistics in Savri and check today’s pageviews.

  • Check that the page addresses appear and that you are looking at the right website and date.
  • If nothing appears, check the site ID, whether the script has been published and whether browser tracking protection is blocking your test visit.
  • Visitors and pageviews are different metrics. Reloading a page several times does not necessarily mean several unique visitors.

Step 4

Recreate what you actually want to measure

Start with one or two important outcomes, such as a submitted contact form or a thank-you page visit. GA4 events and key events are not transferred automatically.

  • Use a pageview goal when the outcome has its own address, such as a thank-you page.
  • For buttons and other actions, configure the corresponding event in Savri. Existing calls to Google do not automatically send anything here.
  • Run a test yourself and check that the right goal is recorded. Keep these tests separate from real customer outcomes.

Step 5

Understand differences in the numbers

Let both tools collect data for a couple of weeks, for example. Compare complete days with the same dates, time zone and set of pages. The numbers do not need to be identical.

  • Compare like-for-like metrics. GA4 active users are not the same definition as unique visitors in Savri.
  • Consent settings, any GA4 modeling, browser protection and traffic filtering affect what you see. Savri may show higher or lower numbers.
  • Check that your important pages, traffic sources and goals are covered. A difference is a reason to check your setup, not proof of which tool is right.

Step 6

Stop GA4 tracking when you are ready

Once Savri gives you the information you need, you can turn off GA4 tracking on your website. Record the switch date to help interpret future reports.

  • First check whether Google Ads, other Google tags, audiences or reports depend on the installation you plan to remove.
  • Remove or pause only GA4 tracking in the code, plugin or tag manager where it was installed. Avoid removing other tags by mistake.
  • Review the website’s other cookies and services before changing your consent setup. Switching analytics tools does not automatically mean the entire banner can be removed.
Compare features and when GA4 is a better fit

Ready to complete the switch?

  • Pages and traffic sources appear in Savri.
  • Your most important goals have passed your own test.
  • The GA4 reports you need are saved separately.
  • Advertising, other tags and consent settings have been reviewed.
